Overview

What is power of attorney attestation?

A power of attorney authorises a person or firm abroad to act for your company: register a branch, sign contracts, file trademarks, handle tenders or appear before courts and ministries.

Company POAs are normally supported by a board resolution. They are notarised, attested by the chamber where required, and then go to the MEA for apostille or attestation, followed by embassy legalisation for non-Hague countries.

Who issues it in India

A power of attorney is executed by your company's authorised signatory, on stamp paper or letterhead as required, and signed before a notary.

Why it is needed abroad

  • Branch or company registration
  • Appointing a local representative
  • Trademark filings, tenders and court cases
